While the summer Abrazo Del Mar is more like a festival (with invited meastros), the winter Abrazo is definitely a tango marathon. It’s dancing from noon until deep in the night, surrounded by the beautiful North Sea and with excellent food.
Abrazo Del Mar is the new name for Sonja & Sven’s tango activities in Blankenberge. The venue is still Belgium Pier, but this summer edition is a pleasant mix between a tango marathon (lots of dancing) and a tango festival (demo by Maja & Marko, demo and workshops by Noelia & Carlitos)
How we love Italy! Giovanni & Antonella invited us to the Genova “La Lanterna” marathon and it was splendid. Margaux hosted us in a little corner of heaven, so we felt very at home. It’s a pity I was getting sick, but it made me take lots more pictures, since I couldn’t really dance anyway.
What better way to start the year than in one of Europe’s most beautiful cities and hometown of Ms Paparazzo. Gabor & Diana welcomed us in Budapest and we enjoyed it tremendously.
First edition of Encuentro Del Mar, in the Belgium Pier @ Blankenberge
What a magical weekend! We just had a fantastic 3 days in Firenze at the Florence FesTango party. Giovanni, tu sei una superstar!
The venue, the music, the food, the people and most of all, the mood. It was a wonderful bath of hugs, smiles and giggles.
And we took LOTS of pictures (4000 or so). Of which we now can show you the following selection of 400 photos! Enjoy!
If Valentine’s Day brings out the romance in people, then what better place to spend it than in Roma? We were there for the first edition of Luca Lamberti’s San Valentine Tango Marathon. An excellent choice!
3 days in the sun, in the middle of February, meeting dancers from all over Europe, chatting with friends we hadn’t seen in a while, some tourism in the incredibly beautiful Rome, Italian food and spritz. Here are the photos: Continue reading “San Valentine Marathon, Roma”
The best part of this job is all the great people you meet. We were invited to Torino by the amazing Ileana, to witness the Circuito Milonguero: not a marathon, not a festival but a series of 4 milongas in 1 weekend, a great way to get to know the local tango scene.
You can say what you want about the way they do politics, but the Italians sure know how to be hospitable and generous. We were welcomed in the home of Lorenza and Luca for the weekend and enjoyed exquisite food and conversations.
Beautiful venues, warm smiling people and great tango make it easy to take good pictures. I’m only halfway through the 3000+ pictures I took and I already like what Panni & me did.

The third edition of Marathon del Chocolate showed Brussels at its best: sweet, hot, friendly, and with an occasional refreshing shower.
Helped by Panni, I took a lot of pictures that took me a lot of time to process. But here they are:
